Heidar Arjomand

Dr. Heidar Arjomand is a Consultant Interventional, Endovascular, and Structural Cardiologist at the American Hospital Dubai. He joined the American Hospital in April 2021. He is an experienced interventional cardiologist with 15 years of experience in advanced cardiovascular interventions in the USA. He is currently the Director of Cardiovascular Quality and Director of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at American Hospital. He is also the Co-Chairman of the American Hospital Academic Institute (AHAI). Dr. Heidar has American Board certification in Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, and Endovascular Medicine. Dr. Heidar graduated with Summa Cum Laude from Pecs University Medical School. During his Internal Medicine Residency training in Pennsylvania, USA, he was elected as the Chief Medical Resident. Subsequently, he completed his Cardiovascular Medicine fellowship and Interventional Cardiology/Endovascular Medicine fellowship at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he was elected as the Chief Cardiology Fellow. Dr. Arjomand completed one year of additional advanced training in “Structural Heart Disease Interventions” at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Arjomand is one of the few Interventional Cardiologists who have one year of dedicated fellowship training in Structural Heart Disease Interventions such as Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), Transcatheter Mitral Valve Repair (TMVR), and Percutaneous Left Atrial Appendage Closure (LAAC) with Watchman Device. Dr. Arjomand has been actively involved in teaching medical students, medical residents, and cardiology fellows throughout his career. He holds an assistant professor position at Nova Southeastern University in Florida, USA. He has extensive publications in the field of cardiovascular disease and interventional/structural cardiology including cardiovascular pharmacotherapy, percutaneous coronary interventions, carotid stenting, and transcatheter valve interventions. He has authored multiple chapters in major cardiovascular textbooks. Dr. Heidar’s areas of expertise include treatment of a broad range of cardiovascular diseases, advanced coronary interventions/stenting including utilization of cardiac mechanical circulatory devices, transcatheter valve interventions including transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and transcatheter mitral valve repair (TMVR), percutaneous closure of atrial septal defect (ASD), percutaneous closure of patent foramen ovale (PFO), left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) with Watchman device, endovascular interventions for peripheral artery disease (PAD), carotid artery stenting, and endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR & TEVAR) for abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysms.
