Firas Raouf Alani

Professor Dr. Firas R. Alani MD, is a Consultant physician at the American Hospital Dubai. He joined the American Hospital in September 2019 and comes with a 12-year USA experience In the field of Cardiology. He Is Currently the Chief Medical Director of the Heart and Vascular Center at the American Hospital Dubai and the Chairman of the American Hospital Academic Institution (AHAI). Prior to joining American Hospital Dubai, Dr. Alani, achieved his medical degree (M.B.Ch.B) from Al Mustansiryiah University in Baghdad Iraq 1993. He subsequently went on to finish his Internal Medicine Residency training at Monmouth Medical Center, Cornell University in New Jersey USA. He was awarded the "Golden Stethoscope" award in teaching at the Drexel University College of Medicine. Prof. Dr. Alani spent 2 years in the field of Research in Cardiovascular Medicine At Drexel University College of Medicine where he published several articles and peer-reviewed journals. He then completed his Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship, Interventional Cardiology Fellowship and Endovascular Therapy Fellowship at the Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA. He was elected the Chief Fellow during his Interventional Cardiology Fellowship. More recently, Dr. Alani completed a six month Fellowship in Advanced Structural Heart Disease at the Henry Ford Hospital which was completed in early 2018 Prof. Dr. Alani obtained American Board Certifications in SIX different medical disciplines. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology, Vascular Medicine and Endovascular Interventions. He also carries the certification of the United States Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI). He has always been heavily involved in teaching and has been a member of the teaching faculty at Central Michigan University (CMU) College of Medicine since 2014. He was the co-director Of the Cardiopulmonary Course At the Medical School for 6 years. Prof. Dr. Alani received several awards for excellence in teaching of medical residents and medical students. He was granted the full rank of Professorship in Cardiovascular Medicine from the CMU College of Medicine in April 2019. Prof. Dr. Firas spent several years of his career in the field of Clinical Research. He was the primary Principal Investigator on more than 20 International Clinical Trials and has published more than 40 articles in well respected peer-review medical journals. He is a well-known national and international speaker and was invited to speak in multiple conferences across the globe including the American Heart Association conference in Dubai November 2019. Prof. Dr. Alani, has special interest in Complex Coronary Artery Disease Interventions, Structural Heart Disease including Transcutaneous Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), Transcutaneous Mitral Valve Implantation (TMVI), Left Atrial Appendage Closure - WATCHMAN Procedure, Carotid Artery Stenting, in addition to percutaneous closure of Atrial Septal Defect and Patent Foramen Ovale and a vast experience in Peripheral Vascular Intervention including Endovascular Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair (EVAR). Prof. Dr. Firas Alani's passion is to provide the best healthcare care to all his patients and the patients of the Heart and Vascular Center with the cutting-edge medical knowledge and technology available.
