About Surgical ICU Facility:

A SICU is one of the most specialized units within a hospital that treats critically ill patients who have gone through surgery. They are typically cared for by specialized doctors known as intensivists who work in the cardiac surgical ICU.  Nurses, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare practitioners also work in SICUs.

SICUs are usually equipped with equipment that is used to monitor and support critical patients. This equipment includes ventilators, which can assist patients in breathing if they are unable to do so themselves.  Also included are dialysis machines, which help to remove waste products from the blood when the kidneys fail and monitor for changes in heart rate, pulse pressure, and a variety of other vital indicators.

SICU patients are typically very ill, necessitating extensive monitoring for care. Once we achieve the stabilization of a patient’s condition, we move them to a less intensive care unit or regular room.
