Assad Qureshi

Dr. Assad Qureshi was born and raised in London and studied medicine at the internationally renowned Guy’s Hospital, London. He completed his higher surgical training in the East Midlands. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and was awarded his Certificate of Completion of Training (Board Certification) in Trauma and Orthopedics in 2016. He completed the prestigious National Fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedics at the Sheffield Children’s Hospital – the first and oldest specialist training program for Pediatric Orthopedics in the UK. Dr. Assad was appointed as the first Orthopedic Consultant solely devoted to Pediatric Orthopedics in the University Hospitals of Leicester, UK where he ran a tertiary service for complex cases referred from across the East Midlands.

Dr. Assad has over 15 years of experience in Orthopaedics with over 8 years working as a full-time Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon treating complex deformities in children. He passionately believes in patient-centered care with treatment programs specifically devised for the needs of the individual patient. As a Consultant, he advanced single-stage hip reconstruction with open reduction and concurrent deformity correction for developmental hip dysplasia and the inception of specialized clinics for neonatal hip ultrasound for hip dysplasia and Ponseti treatment for clubfeet. He has been part of the regional Gait Laboratory multi-disciplinary team advancing the care of children with cerebral palsy and neuromuscular conditions. He utilizes comprehensive diagnostic protocols including radiographic deformity analysis, 3d virtual modeling, instrumented gait analysis, and pedobarography to devise a patient-specific surgical treatment. Dr. Assad places vital importance on patient communication, support, and detailed discussion on proposed surgical treatment, potential alternatives to surgery, and expected outcomes following treatment. He works alongside an excellent multi-disciplinary pediatric team including Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation medicine, Pediatric neurology, and Orthotic services.

Outside of clinical practice, Dr. Assad has an extensive academic background including a BSc in Neuroscience, an MSc in Orthopedic Engineering, and a Ph.D. investigating bioresorbable fracture fixation devices. He has several peer-reviewed publications in leading orthopedic journals and has won several best paper prizes for his research at national meetings. He has won awards for his teaching and has delivered instructional lectures at national meetings and courses on his areas of expertise.
