Ways to Prevent Hand Dermatitis

Hand-washing is a good habit that prevents the spreading of viruses, like the new coronavirus (COVID-19) and the flu.

Although this is beneficial, many antiseptic and antibacterial washes are quite harsh on the skin, causing irritant or allergic contact dermatitis. Moreover, excessive hand washing and the use of sanitizers make skin dry and cracked, causing itchiness and possibly infection.

Here, hand-washing with soap is generally better than using hand sanitizer.

Do not rub dry your hands after washing them instead pat dry with a paper towel or tissue and then generously apply moisturizer on them.

If there is excessive discomfort or severe irritation, consult our dermatologist via telehealth service, who will guide you about the hospital visit, if necessary.
