Oncology And Hematology

Leading cancer treatment center in the middle east

The Cancer Care Center at the American Hospital Dubai has remained a leading center of excellence for cancer care within the region since opening its medical campus in 2005. Through an integrated program and a passionate team led by American Board Certified Hematologists and Oncologists, the AHD Cancer Center provides Dubai with premium healthcare solutions and the best oncologist in Dubai.

According to the World Health Organization, cancer is the second largest cause of global deaths, with 8.8 million fatalities in 2015.  In UAE, after cardiovascular diseases, cancer remains the leading cause of death.

In line with the UAE National agenda to bring down cancer-associated mortality, the department of oncology and hematology at the American Hospital Department has been transformed into a comprehensive cancer care center.  The center is focused on delivering world-class comprehensive cancer care ranging from preventative measures and early detection to the state of the art treatment and supportive services incorporating a multidisciplinary team framework that include members from various disciplines that include medical oncology, hematology, radiation oncology, surgical oncology, breast care clinic, palliative care, and pain, nutrition, and health psychology.

Our vision is to create a culture that encourages and reinforces patient-centric care.  We are utilizing cutting-edge scientific data and innovative strategies with compassion to ensure that all those who are at risk and affected by cancer have access to the highest quality care.

Our mission is to provide excellence in cancer care through outstanding programs that integrate quality patient care, education, research, and collaboration with the world-leading hospitals like Mayo Clinic as a Mayo Clinic network member (MCCN). You are sure to find the best cancer doctor in Dubai.

Chemotherapy Certification Workshop

The Chemotherapy Certification Workshop takes place to help qualified nurses maintain and develop their skills in the administration and safety elements of chemotherapy management.

Staffs within the oncology and hematology department take part in compulsory monthly cancer talks and in-service sessions. As a result the team is fully up-to-date with the latest medical knowledge. This is a vital component to the continuation of world-class healthcare.

Tumour Board Meetings

Tumour Board Meetings are an effective way to approach treatment plans for cancer patients at AHD. During the monthly meetings, members of the diagnostic radiology, pathology, lab medicine, surgery, and hematology and oncology teams present facts and statistics concerning cancer patients. These multidisciplinary meetings ultimately allow teams to devise the most comprehensive and effective treatment plan for each individual patient.

International oncology Summit:

With the goal to advance education and bring the latest developments and research in cancer treatment to the region, Mayo Clinic and American hospital is collaborating and bringing the best experts in the field at the annual international oncology Summit with the first successful conference held in January 2019.

Treatment modalities include:

  • Chemotherapy
  • Targeted therapy
  • Hormonal therapy
  • Reconstructive surgeries
  • Radiation Oncology Services

The Cancer Treatment Center is a leading facility dedicated to providing a comprehensive array of oncological and hematological services for cancers and blood disorders. The center offers screening, diagnosis, treatment and care for adults and pediatric patients, in both respective fields. Concerning hematology, all diseases, whether benign or malignant, including but not limited to clotting and bleeding problems, blood count issues, hereditary problems and hemochromatosis, will be professionally treated.

AHD has found a positive correlation between cancer survival rates and the development of effective treatment approaches. This involves an increase in the use of enhanced supportive care interventions, preventative measures and control activities.

In combination with traditional cancer treatment options, such as surgery, chemotherapy and palliative care, the Cancer Care Center offers a range of new therapies, opening up a variety of innovative treatment possibilities. As cancer therapies have become stronger, patients receiving these treatments subsequently require a more inclusive form of care.

A major shift in health care regarding the use of ambulatory treatment has occurred within AHD. Patients now have the option to receive complex cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy, within the comfort of their own homes as outpatients of the hospital. Naturally, given the often-aggressive nature of cancer therapies, there is a possibility that patients receiving such treatments may fall acutely ill. In the cases where complications arise, a wide range of services exists to ensure any complications are appropriately addressed, including full admissions as inpatients for comprehensive care.

With over a decade worth of specialized experience, the oncology department at the American Hospital Dubai Cancer Care Center confidently treats all types of cancer, using a variety of treatments tailored to an individual’s needs.
