Dr. Heidar Arjomand is a Consultant Interventional, Endovascular, and Structural Cardiologist at the American Hospital Dubai. He joined the American Hospital Dubai in April 2021. He is currently the Group Chief Medical Officer. His prior leadership roles at American Hospital included Chief of American Heart and Vascular Institute, Director of Cardiac Cath Lab, and Director of Cardiovascular Quality. His medical philosophy centers on excellence in clinical quality and patients’ care.
Dr. Arjomand is an experienced interventional cardiologist with 15 years of experience in advanced cardiovascular interventions in the USA. Dr. Heidar has American Board certification in Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, and Endovascular Medicine. Dr. Heidar graduated with Summa Cum Laude from Medical School. His medical and cardiovascular training in the USA included Internal Medicine Residency, Cardiovascular Medicine fellowship, Interventional Cardiology/Endovascular Medicine fellowship, and advanced fellowship training in Structural Heart Disease Interventions. Owing to his leadership quality, he was elected as the Chief Medical Resident during his internal medicine training and the Chief Cardiology Fellow during his cardiovascular training.
Dr. Arjomand has extensive publications in the field of cardiovascular disease and interventional/structural cardiology including cardiovascular pharmacotherapy, percutaneous coronary interventions, carotid stenting, and transcatheter valve interventions. He has authored multiple chapters in major cardiovascular textbooks. Dr. Heidar’s clinical interest include complex coronary interventions/stenting including utilization of cardiac mechanical circulatory devices (MCS) in patients with cardiogenic shock, endovascular interventions for peripheral artery disease and carotid artery stenting, and structural heart disease interventions including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). In collaboration with Emirates Cardiac Society (ECS), Dr. Arjomand and cardiology colleagues/collaborators have established Emirates Cardiogenic Shock Working Group (ECSWG) which advocates for optimization of care of patients with cardiogenic shock.
