Dr. Fadi Hamwi, M.D, is the chief of the primary care department, he has a special interest in comprehensive wellness and preventative medicine, alongside the treatment of chronic diseases such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension and hypercholesterolemia.
He received certification and licensure from the American Board in Internal Medicine (1998) and Geriatric Medicine (1999). Dr. Hamwi was awarded his medical degree from Tishreen University, Syria in 1992. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, New Jersey, an affiliate of Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York and went onto gain his Geriatric Fellowship at the University of Miami Medical Centre, Florida. Prior to joining the American Hospital Dubai, Dr. Hamwi worked as a Primary Care Physician and Hospitalist in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Some of Dr. Hamwi’s medical accolades include Chief Resident and Resident Leadership Award from Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, as well as being a Chief Fellow within the Department of Geriatrics at University of Miami, Florida.
Dr. Hamwi stresses the significance of preventive medicine, highlighting the poignant reminder that regular checkups save lives in their ability to detect diseases at an early stage. As a doctor, he places special emphasis on the importance of compassion and the necessity to connect well with his patients to make them comfortable enough to address all their concerns.
Dr. Tariq Akbar, M.D. is a Primary Care Physician with special interest in preventive medicine. He was awarded certification from the American Board of Family Medcine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
He received his MBBS from King Edward Medical College, Lahore, Pakistan and completed his Transitional Residency at Mercy Hospital, Ohio, U.S.A. He then went onto complete his Family Practice Residency at Mercy Health Partners – Northern Region, Family Practice Program, where he would work as Chief Resident. Dr. Akbar also served as a Family Physician at Calais Regional Hospital, Maine, U.S.A.
Dr. Akbar takes a holistic approach to medicine and understands the importance of individualized patient care. He makes patients feel at ease and ensures the entirety of their story is heard before offering medical advice. He instills in his patients the understanding that medication is only part of the puzzle and that active involvement and lifestyle modification will result in lasting, positive outcomes.
Prior to joining American Hospital Dubai, Dr. Aamerah Shah was working as a General Practitioner in London UK from August 2005 until January 2009 in National Health Service (NHS). She is a member of Royal College of General Practitioner (MRCGP) UK since 2007 as well as Member of Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MRCP )since 2003.
She holds various diplomas from UK including Obstetrics and Gynecology from Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecology UK (2008), Diploma in Cardiology from the Royal Brompton Hospital, National Heart & Lung Institute, London, UK (1995), Diploma in Internal Medicine from the Royal Postgraduate Medical School, Hammersmith Hospital, London, UK (1997). Dr. Shah completed her basic medical training from the University of Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan in 1991.
Dr. Jamie Abdennadher completed his Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) in July 2011 and obtained his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in GP in August 2011. He did his basic medical training from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK in 2002.
Prior to joining us, he also worked as GP in New Court Surgery (2011-2014), as well as in Old Town Surgery & BMI Ridgeway Hospital (since 2014) in UK.
Dr. Fazel Khalili did his basic medical training from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Romania in 1992. He completed his US Board Certified in Internal Medicine in 2004. Prior to joining us, Dr. Khalili worked as Internal Medicine Physician at VA Hospital, Oklahoma City, USA since 2008. Prior to that, he was in private practice at Internal Medicine & Nephrology Associates, PC, USA.
Dr. Edward White completed his US Board certification of Family Medicine in 1993 and recertification in 2013.He is ACLS and ATLS certified.Prior to joining us, Dr. White worked as Corporate Medical Director at Onsite OHS, Princeton, Indiana, USA.
Dr. Shayma Hampton completed her basic medical training from Aberdeen University, UK in 2007. She completed her membership of the royal college of general practitioners (MRCGP) and obtained her certificate of completion of training (CCT) in the UK in 2013. Dr. Hampton also has experience working in the out of hour urgent care setting (GMEDs) in the UK.
Prior to joining us, Dr. Hampton worked as a Consultant Family Medicine Physician at HealthPlus Medical Services LLC, Abu Dhabi, UAE from January 2016 to December 2016. Prior to that, she worked at Albyn Medical Practice, Aberdeen, UK from 2013 to 2015.
Dr. Khaled Shuhaiber is a family medicine consultant physician at American Hospital Dubai.
Dr. Shuhaiber has extensive experience in all aspects of family medicine and continues to provide evidence-based healthcare for patients of all ages. He strongly stresses the importance of preventive medicine and regular check-ups in order to maintain good health and wellbeing. Over the course of his career, he has continued to manage and deal with acute and chronic illnesses, providing follow up for patients.
Having completed his specialty training in Family Medicine in the United Kingdom, Dr. Shuhaiber is the holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) and a Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) from the UK. He also received his MBBS from the University of Jordan’s Faculty of Medicine.
Prior to working in Dubai, Dr. Shuhaiber worked at the NHS in the UK for many years, providing a full range of Family Medicine healthcare services, particularly in the South-West region of the country, including North Devon, Somerset, Weston-Super-Mare and Bristol.
In addition to his work as a physician, Dr. Shuhaiber has participated in the teaching and training of junior doctors specializing in Family Medicine.
Dr. El Sherif Omar Shafie is a Family Medicine specialist with over ten years of experience in the medical field.
Dr. Shafie’s medical journey started in Cairo, Egypt, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the Ain Shams University Hospital. Soon after, he moved to the United States, where he completed an internship in General surgery and a residency in Family Medicine from Detroit’s St. John Hospital & Medical Center. He then went on to earn his board certification in 2013.
A member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians and the Texas Academy of Family Physicians, Dr. Shafie has also earned several accreditations that include certificates in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), as well as Honors from Cairo’s Ain Shams University.
Over the course of his illustrious careers, Dr. Shafie has worked in some of the world’s most notable medical institutions such as the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, the Kingwood Hospital in Kingwood, Texas, Memorial Herman Hospital in Houston, Texas and the West Houston Medical Hospital also in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Monajid is British trained Family Medicine consultant. She Gained her Medical Degree from the University of Baghdad, before moving to Leeds (UK)to complete her postgraduate training. Working in Large teaching hospitals and community primary care facilities, Dr. Monajid has gained a wide range of experience in both primary and secondary care, in areas such as Paediatrics, Acute Medicine, Geriatrics, Gynecology, and General Surgery. She particularly enjoys seeing children and is competent in gastroenterology and rheumatological conditions, as well as women’s health. Dr. Monajid has gained additional experience in the skills of joint injections, aesthetics (including fillers, botulinum toxin injection, chemical peels, mesotherapy, Platelet-rich plasma treatment (PRP), family planning and sexual health. Dr. Monajid has joined us from her position as consultant family medicine working for an Outstanding (CQC rating )practice in Leeds, UK.
