Dr. Khaldoun Taha is American Board Certified in Internal Medicine & Cardiovascular Diseases. Member of the American College of Physicians. Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC). Vast experience with special interests include coronary artery disease and congestive heart failure.
Dr. Mohamed Salem is a Consultant in Interventional Cardiology. He completed his US Board Certification of Internal Medicine in 1999, Cardiovascular Disease in 2002, Interventional Cardiology in 2003 and Endovascular Medicine in 2008. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and Member of the Society of vascular medicine.
Prior to joining us, Dr. Salem was in clinical practice for 10 years in Pennsylvania, USA. He worked as an Associate in Cardiology and Endovascular Medicine at Guthrie Clinic. He has also worked as an Associate Director of Cardiac Catheterization Lab at St. Luke’s University Hospital & Network, both institutions are ranked by Thomson-Reuters among the Top 50 hospitals for cardiac and vascular care in the USA .
In addition to general cardiology, Dr Salem has strong experience with radial artery approach for cardiac catheterization, complex cardiac and peripheral vascular interventions, critical limb ischemia, cardiac pacemakers and venous disease.
Mustapha Shaaraoui, MD, is a cardiologist in the American Hospital Dubai, specialized in Cardiac Electrophysiology. He is american board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, cardiac electrophysiology and echocardiography. He has special interest in ablation of atrial fibrillation, ventricular arrhythmias and supraventricular tachycardias. He is experienced with different aspect of device management, including pacemakers, loop recorders, defibrillators and biventricular devices.
Dr. Shaaraoui received a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with distinction from the American University of Beirut, where he also completed his medical degree with distinction. He was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr Shaaraoui completed his residency training at Cleveland Clinic, where he spent 5 years in the cardiology section. He finished his fellowship in cardiology from Lehigh Valley Hospital in Pennsylvania. He then completed his cardiac electrophysiology training at Yale New Haven Hospital, where he served as chief fellow in electrophysiology in 2013.
Highly recognized as one of American Hospital Dubai’s most accomplished heart and lung expert, Dr. Heyman Luckraz is a Chief / Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon with over 20 years of experience in the medical field.
Dr Luckraz graduated with Honours from the University of London and is a member of the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery (Great Britain & Ireland) and the British Society for Heart Failure. He is also a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Throughout his career, he has worked in some of the United Kingdom’s most esteemed medical institutions such as the Heart and Lung Centre ( Wolverhampton), the University Hospital of Wales, Papworth Hospital (Cambridge) and the Royal Brompton Hospital (London).
Dr. Luckraz constantly earns the highest acclaim from his patients as well as his peers, using his skills and vast knowledge to treat adult patients (over the age of 18 years). In addition, Dr. Luckraz has accumulated awards and accolades for his work over the years, collecting achievements such as the Clinical Excellence Award in 2013 and 2016, a Silver Scalpel nomination in 2016 and, most recently, the JWC Award.
In parallel with his work in surgery, Dr. Luckraz often partakes in seminars, roundtables, research projects and medical presentations on topics such as Endoscopic Vein Harvesting, Acute Kidney Injury & Ventilator Associated Pneumonia after cardiac surgery, Trans-catheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) and Cost-effectiveness in the delivery of HealthCare.
His cardiac surgical practice includes coronary artery bypass grafting, aortic, mitral and tricuspid valves surgery (including infective endocarditis), surgery on the aorta (including acute Type A aortic dissection), Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), Transcatheter Mitral valve Implantation (TMVI) and atrial fibrillation surgery. Some of the cases are done via minimal access route such as mini-sternotomy aortic valve surgery.
His thoracic practice includes surgical procedures within the thorax (lung, pleura, mediastinum, chest wall). Most of these procedures are carried out via the Video Assisted Thoracoscopy (VATS) access or endobronchially e.g. endobronchial valve therapy for emphysema.
