Dr. Mohamed Salem is a Consultant in Interventional Cardiology. He completed his US Board Certification of Internal Medicine in 1999, Cardiovascular Disease in 2002, Interventional Cardiology in 2003 and Endovascular Medicine in 2008. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and Member of the Society of vascular medicine.

Prior to joining us, Dr. Salem was in clinical practice for 10 years in Pennsylvania, USA. He worked as an Associate in Cardiology and Endovascular Medicine at Guthrie Clinic. He has also worked as an Associate Director of Cardiac Catheterization Lab at St. Luke’s University Hospital & Network, both institutions are ranked by Thomson-Reuters  among the Top 50 hospitals for cardiac and vascular care in the USA .
In addition to general cardiology, Dr Salem has strong experience with radial artery approach for cardiac catheterization, complex cardiac and peripheral vascular interventions, critical limb ischemia, cardiac pacemakers and venous disease.

Mustapha Shaaraoui, MD, is a cardiologist in the American Hospital Dubai, specialized in Cardiac Electrophysiology. He is american board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, cardiac electrophysiology and echocardiography. He has special interest in ablation of atrial fibrillation, ventricular arrhythmias and supraventricular tachycardias. He is experienced with different aspect of device management, including pacemakers, loop recorders, defibrillators and biventricular devices.

Dr. Shaaraoui received a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with distinction from the American University of Beirut, where he also completed his medical degree with distinction. He was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr Shaaraoui completed his residency training at Cleveland Clinic, where he spent 5 years in the cardiology section. He finished his fellowship in cardiology from Lehigh Valley Hospital in Pennsylvania. He then completed his cardiac electrophysiology training at Yale New Haven Hospital, where he served as chief fellow in electrophysiology in 2013.

Highly recognized as one of American Hospital Dubai’s most accomplished heart and lung expert, Dr. Heyman Luckraz is a Chief / Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon with over 20 years of experience in the medical field.

Dr Luckraz graduated with Honours from the University of London and is a member of the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery (Great Britain & Ireland) and the British Society for Heart Failure. He is also a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Throughout his career, he has worked in some of the United Kingdom’s most esteemed medical institutions such as the Heart and Lung Centre ( Wolverhampton), the University Hospital of Wales, Papworth Hospital (Cambridge) and the Royal Brompton Hospital (London).

Dr. Luckraz constantly earns the highest acclaim from his patients as well as his peers, using his skills and vast knowledge to treat adult patients (over the age of 18 years). In addition, Dr. Luckraz has accumulated awards and accolades for his work over the years, collecting achievements such as the Clinical Excellence Award in 2013 and 2016, a Silver Scalpel nomination in 2016 and, most recently, the JWC Award.

His cardiac surgical practice includes coronary artery bypass grafting, aortic, mitral and tricuspid valves surgery (including infective endocarditis), surgery on the aorta (including acute Type A aortic dissection), Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), Transcatheter Mitral valve Implantation (TMVI) and atrial fibrillation surgery. Some of the cases are done via minimal access route such as mini-sternotomy aortic valve surgery.

His thoracic practice includes surgical procedures within the thorax (lung, pleura, mediastinum, chest wall). Most of these procedures are carried out via the Video Assisted Thoracoscopy (VATS) access or endobronchially e.g. endobronchial valve therapy for emphysema.

Dr. Keivanjah earned his graduate degree in human medicine and medical degree at the University of Saarland, Germany (1985-1992). He completed his general surgery education in Weimar and Bad Berka, Germany in 2000. He followed with vascular surgery specialization in Bad Berka and Herne, Germany and endovascular surgery fellowship training at the Park Hospital Leipzig, Germany (2006-2010). After completing his training, he became the head of the Vascular and Endovascular Department at Euregio Clinic Nordhorn (2010-2117) in Germany.  Dr. Ali Keivanjah is also registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) of England and MeBeKo of Swiss as a Vascular Surgeon and an Endovascular Specialist (2018).

Dr. Firas Raouf Alani is an Interventional Cardiologist, been in practicing for over 12 years. He joined the American Hospital in Dubai in July 2019. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency in 2001 from Monmouth Medical Center New Jersey USA. Subsequently, completed his Fellowship in Cardiovascular disease in 2006 at Drexel University, Philadelphia USA, where he also completed an 18 month fellowship in Interventional cardiology and Peripheral Interventions. In 2008, Dr. Alani started his practice as an interventional cardiologist with Covenant Healthcare Hospital in Michigan USA. His passion for teaching young physicians has been driving his academic career for the past 10 years. In 2014 he took a faculty position at the Central Michigan Medical School and has been involved in teaching 1st and 2nd year medical students. Dr. Alani has published more than 50 articles in the field of cardiology in peer review medical journals. His scholarship activities were recognized by the Central Michigan University College of Medicine, and he was recently granted the full Rank of “Professor in Cardiology” in may 2018 In 2010, Dr. Firas Alani held the position of the Medical director of the Cardiology group at the Covenant Healthcare hospital in Michigan USA as well as the Medical Director of the Vascular and Endovascular section. Dr. Alani, has a passion for stroke prevention, and has dedicated his training to master specialized procedures geared towards stroke preventions such as Carotid artery Stenting, Percutaneous PFO and ASD closure (holes in the heart) and percutaneous left atrial appendage closure (Watchman) in patients with atrial fibrillation who are considered poor candidates for long-term anticoagulation therapy. Dr. Alani, recently completed a dedicated fellowship in Advanced Structural Heart Disease (SHD) at the Henry Ford Medical Center 2017 and took on the role of the Medical director of the SHD program at Covenant Healthcare hospital since early 2017 and until his recent departure. He has extensive experience in complex coronary intervention, Peripheral intervention, Carotid Stenting, ASD/PFO closure, Transcutaneous Aortic valve procedures (TAVI) and left atrial closure procedures (Watchman). As the medical director of the SHD program, Dr. Alani has performed more than 170 TAVI and more than 80 Watchman over the past two years.
