Dr. Tarek Abuzakuk is a very experienced UK trained trauma, orthopaedic, sports medicine and joint replacement surgeon. He acquired a diploma in sports medicine from the Royal College of surgeons of Ireland in 1999. He completed two arthroplasty fellowships based at the Royal National Orthopaedic hospital in Stanmore London UK. Whilst in Stanmore he was involved in the cartilage transplant surgery (ACI & MACI). In 2006, he acquired a certificate of completion of training (CCT).
Dr. Abuzakuk specializes in arthritic disorders of the hip and knee. He has an extensive experience in hip and knee joint replacements and has performed thousands of joint replacement surgeries. Dr. Abuzakuk is also experienced in failed or painful joint replacements and performs hip and knee revision surgeries.
Dr. Abuzakuk also specializes in advanced arthroscopic and minimally invasive ankle and knee surgery. He specializes in ligament reconstruction (ACL & PCL), meniscal damage management (repair & meniscectomy) patellar instability and cartilage restoration procedures of the knee. He performs arthroscopy, ligament reconstruction and cartilage treatment of the ankle joint. Also, Dr. Abuzakuk, has an excellent experience in osteotomies around the knee to correct deformities.
Dr. Abuzakuk lectures locally and internationally in topics related to hip and knee joints.
Prior to joining the American Hospital Dubai, Dr. Abuzakuk worked as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with special in trauma, joint replacement and sports medicine at the Royal Derby Hospital Derby UK.
Dr. Ghazwan Maki did his basic medical training from Baghdad University in Iraq in 1995. He completed his Danish Board Certification in Orthopedic Surgery in 2009. He also acquired his Norwegian Board Certification in 2010 and Swedish Board Certification in Orthopedic Surgery in 2011. He is registered Orthopedic Surgeon in the British General Medical Council (GMC).
Dr. Ghazwan Maki is a general and trauma orthopedic surgeon with special interest in upper extremity surgery. He has more than 15 years experience in shoulder, elbow and hand surgery including over 300 cases of shoulder joint replacement. In addition he has extensive experience in hand surgery such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Trigger Finger, Gamer’s Thumb “Mommy Thumb and Ganglion “Bible Cyst” and Elbow problems including elbow joint replacement, Tennis elbow and Golfer’s Elbow . Dr. Maki uses minimaly invasive surgical techniques to treat shoulder rotator cuff injuries. He obtained an excellent experience in the management of sport injuries at Copenhagen University Hospital in Hvidovre – Denmark. Dr. Maki also treats wide range of foot problems such as Planter fasciitis, Achilles Tendon Rupture and Heel Spurs.
