IN-ROOM HEALTH & SAFETY GUIDE FOR PATIENTS:

Your health and well-being are our top priorities at American Hospital Dubai, and for this reason, we have streamlined some essential information and guidelines below, to provide insights into maintaining a safe environment within the confines of the patient’s room. We’ve taken into consideration critical aspects like infection prevention, emergency procedures, medication management, and injury prevention. By adhering to the guidelines outlined in this guide, patients can play an active role in safeguarding their health and minimizing risks while receiving care within our premises:

BED AND NURSE CALL SYSTEM:

  • Your bed is equipped with automatic raising and lowering capabilities. Your assigned nurse will provide a demonstration on how to operate these functions for your convenience.
  • At bedtime, the bed will be adjusted to a low position with raised side rails. These rails are designed to assist you in steadying yourself and will not obstruct your movement in and out of bed. Furthermore, a Nurse Call system has been installed in your room, conveniently accessible from your bed. Your nurse will demonstrate its use in the event you require assistance.
  • We kindly request that you avoid covering the bedside light to prevent overheating.
  • Please be aware that windows in patient rooms are not permitted to be opened.
  • Your adherence to these guidelines ensures a safe and conducive environment. Feel free to engage with your nurse for any assistance.

PERSONAL ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES:

Ensuring your safety is of utmost importance to us. If you wish to use any personal electrical appliances in your room that are not supplied by the hospital, kindly notify your nurse. Our engineering staff will be arranged to inspect and test the equipment before its use.

Your cooperation in promptly informing the nursing staff ensures the proper assessment and validation of personal electrical devices, contributing to a secure environment within our facility.

FOOD

Please avoid keeping large quantities of food in the patient rooms or waiting areas for cleanliness and safety reasons.

HAND HYGIENE

You’re requested to maintain frequent hand hygiene, and wash your hands particularly after coming into contact with objects or surfaces within the hospital, before meals, and after restroom use. Practicing proper hand hygiene aids in preventing infections and the spread of germs to yourself and others around you.

American Hospital Dubai upholds a smoke-free policy across its premises, including patient rooms, to ensure a healthy environment for patients, staff, and visitors. We appreciate your cooperation with this regulation. Smoking is permitted only in the designated courtyard area outside the hospital.
