A Registered Nurse who provides comprehensive nursing care to clients experiencing acute and chronic pain from a variety of causes such as cancer, labour and delivery, post operative, headaches, chronic back pain etc. This Nurse uses pain management knowledge and skills to make clinical decisions, develop client diagnosis, establish a plan of care, and evaluate the effectiveness of care for patients of all ages including special populations. Supports staff in the care of patients with pain and collaborates with multidisciplinary care givers in revising treatment regimens. Assesses the educational needs of staff related to pain management, assists with Pain assessments and assists in providing educational programs for staff in coordination with the Unit Nurse Manager/Designee. Reviews patients on intravenous (PCA) and epidural pain management in a timely manner and evaluates effectiveness of therapy. Reports findings to Team Leader and/or Nurse Manager as necessary, documents findings and plan of care in the EMR. Monitors patient satisfaction in relation to pain control and its management. Manages inventory of pain management related equipment (PCAs, Epidural Pumps and other related). Liaises with and updates the Physicians and multidisciplinary team for any significant changes in the plan of management of pain. Takes part in the nursing orientation to present the pain management services. Conducts daily unit rounds for a proactive planning of care of the patients in need. Provides input in the selection of Quality Measures related to pain management and collects and analyses data accordingly. Shares Quality measures results and action plans with the unit Managers and the Clinical Education Manager and follows up on the execution. Reviews and monitors incidents relating to pain management and takes appropriate actions in discussion with the relevant Unit Managers.

Undertakes operational accountability for staff schedules that support the physician practice, registration quality, cash collections and insurance accountability, clinical quality, performance improvement and patient service excellence. Hires, develops, and conducts staff competency assessments for the assigned clinics.

To assist the Registered Nurse in the provision of indirect and limited direct care for patients. Ensures patient rooms are adequately stocked as per need. Escorts patients to other departments, supports the effective functioning of unit routine and answers call bells. Assists, Manager and Materials department in the appropriate charging and stocking of ward materials on a daily basis. Under the direction of Nurse Manager/Registered Nurse cares for and cleans ward equipment and reports any malfunctions as per guidelines.
A registered professional Registered Nurse with recent Rehabilitation unit experience would provide direct patient care and coordinate patient care-related activities using the scientific process of nursing. Nursing care given to adult and geriatric population.
Offers advice and safe, effective midwifery care that respects the cultural and social needs of each woman and her family during the antenatal, intrapartum and postpartum period. Demonstrates competency in the skills needed to assist and support the woman before, during and after child birth. Works collaboratively with other health care professionals to improve the delivery of services to women and families. Safely administers medication according to the hospital policy during pregnancy, birth and lactation.
