hospital whose mission is to provide high quality American standard healthcare
that will meet the needs and exceed the expectations of the people of Dubai,
the UAE and the surrounding Gulf States.
The American Hospital Dubai was therefore planned,
designed, built and equipped to meet American Standards of healthcare. We

physicians who are credentialed at our hospital are North American Board
Certified or of equivalent Western training programs, such as those in United
States, Canada and the United Kingdom. We have ensured that we have the
expertise to fulfill your medical requirements in comfortable and reassuring
surroundings.
The hospital is the first in the Middle East to get
accredited by the Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) which
reassures our continued commitment to the highest quality American Standard of
Healthcare in the region. In 2006 the hospital was reaccredited for the third
time. The hospital’s Medical Laboratory is also accredited and re accredited in
2005 by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), making it the first private
laboratory in the Middle East to be accredited by (CAP).

primary and secondary care, plus selective tertiary services, to include
Centers of Excellence in - Joint Replacement, Heart, Cancer, and Diabetes.
In 2004, the size of the American Hospital Dubai
was increased by a further 25 per cent, to meet the growing demand for more
personalized services, comfort and convenience, broadening the healthcare
services offered and deepening the level of expertise and care available. The
new facilities included a Dialysis Unit with private rooms; lithotripsy service
(treatment of kidney stones); a 10-bed Intensive Care Unit; a 10-bed Cardiac
Intensive Care Unit, Expanded Emergency Department staffed with American Board
Certified physicians; a 13 bed child-friendly Pediatric Suite; and 9 bed
Endoscopy Suite offering same-day surgery.

Center is operated by an all American Trained and Board Certified physician

additional capacity for 144 new clinic exam rooms. The additional space will
also allow the expansion of existing physician services in Obstetric and
Gynecology, Pediatrics, Primary Care, Surgery, and Oncology. New physician
services will be introduced through units dedicated to Dermatology, Plastic

or equivalent practicing Physicians at the Hospital from 60 to 110 over the
next two years, which is what makes AHD so different in the region.

Outpatient clinics building at basement level through air conditioned corridors
and elevators. The American Hospital Dubai’s new facilities meet the

The American Hospital

States based Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
(JCAHO). The hospital was reaccredited in May 2003 and was further reaccredited
again in 2006. It took years of committed work and effort to prepare the
hospital to meet the standards of the JCIA. Experts from the United States of
America visited our hospital and compared day to day activities against their
American standards.
JCIA Standards focus on the areas that most directly impact
patient care. These include access to care, assessment of patients, infection
control, patient and family rights, and education. Standards also address
facility management and safety, staff qualifications, quality improvement,
hospital leadership, and management of information.
